Boy, 14, hospitalized after crashing dirt bike into trailer

Staff writerJuly 22, 2013

A 14-year-old boy was taken to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and may be transported to Harborview Medical Center for further care after crashing his dirt bike into a parked trailer Monday night in Tacoma, according to firefighters and police.

The boy's injuries from the crash, which happened about 5:20 p.m. at East 68th Street and Pipeline Road East, were not life-threatening, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

Cool said the road has loose gravel, and that the boy must have lost control of the bike, causing him to crash and break multiple bones.

It is not legal to ride dirt bikes there, she said, and while an investigation is still pending, she said he was not cited at the scene.
