Resident, three cats displaced by Tacoma apartment fire

Staff writerJuly 23, 2013

An apartment fire about 2 p.m. Tuesday at South 56th and South M streets has displaced one person and three cats, Tacoma Fire spokesman Joe Meinecke said.

One patient was evaluated at the scene, but was not taken to the hospital, he said.

The exact cause of the fire is still being determined, but it appeared to start in the kitchen area.

The American Red Cross is helping to find temporary housing for the resident and pets, Meinecke said.
