A 27-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night after police say he reportedly drove about 90 miles per hour through Bonney Lake and later crashed after a pursuit in which he allegedly tried to run officers off the road.

Bonney Lake residents called 911 about 6:30 p.m. to report a vehicle driving at high speeds near the 18900 block of 111th Street East, Bonney Lake Police Sgt. Ryan Boyle said.

When an officer met up with the vehicle minutes later and tried to stop it, the pursuit ensued, Boyle said.

At two points during the chase, the suspect tried to run officers off the road, he said.

The driver went through Buckley and eventually lost control and crashed at Orville Road East and state Route 162 in Orting, according to police.

He was being evaluated at the hospital late Tuesday for minor injuries, officers said.

Boyle said the suspect would be booked for investigation of eluding police and assault.

It wasn’t immediately clear why the man had been driving recklessly, Boyle said.
