Man arrested after high-speed pursuit in Bonney Lake

Staff writerJuly 24, 2013

A 27-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night after leading Bonney Lake police on a high-speed pursuit into Buckley.

Several residents called 911 about 6:20 p.m. to report a Saturn station wagon driving 90 miles per hour through a residential neighborhood and doing donuts in driveways.

A responding officer spotted the vehicle coming toward him in the 10100 block of 200th Avenue East and turned on his lights and sirens. The man got into the officer’s lane and forced the cop to take “evasive action” to avoid a collision, police said.

The man ran multiple red lights as police pursued him through the city and into Buckley, where the driver lost control while trying to make a turn on state Route 162 near Orville Road East.

The man was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries. The officer was not injured.

Police said it’s unknown why the man was speeding in the first place.
