Pilot OK after plane crashes at Tacoma Narrows Airport

Staff writerJuly 28, 2013

The pilot of a Cessna 162 that crashed about 11:45 a.m. Sunday at the Tacoma Narrows Airport is OK, Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One said.

The 69-year-old man was the only person in the plane at the time, Fire spokeswoman Nanette Tatom said.

The plane's nose gear collapsed on landing, causing the Cessna to skid 300 feet, she said.

The airport was closed briefly as crews waited for the Federal Aviation Administration to clear the scene.
