Staff writerJuly 28, 2013

A Pierce County burn ban takes effect Monday.

Fire Marshal Warner Webb announced the ban, due to the string of hot, dry weather.

All burning permits will be suspended.

Outdoor burning is prohibited, except for recreational fires less than three feet in diameter, fires in barbecues and other cooking appliances, outdoor fireplaces and campfires in approved pits.

For more information, call the Fire Marshal’s office at 253-798-7179, or contact your local fire department.

Anyone with a Department of Natural Resources burn permit should call 800-323-BURN (2876).
