Two suspicious fires started in Tacoma overnight

Staff writerJuly 31, 2013

Two suspicious fires were discovered early Wednesdays on the same street in Tacoma but police didn’t immediately know whether they were linked.

No one was hurt in either blaze.

The first fire was reported about 4:15 a.m. in the 4100 block of Yakima Avenue. Firefighters found a pickup truck fully involved with flames and the fire spreading to a nearby garage and tree. Crews knocked down the flames and kept the fire from destroying the garage.

A half hour later, firefighters were called to a garage in the 4300 block of Yakima Avenue where a vehicle and garage were burning.

The fire destroyed a detached garage, a vehicle, trailer and recreational travel trailer.
