Milton father accused of smoking heroin while driving with 2-year-old child

Staff writerAugust 1, 2013

King County prosecutors have charged a 32-year-old Milton man suspected of smoking heroin while driving with his 2-year-old daughter in the back seat.

Jason Howard will be arraigned Thursday on a charge of physical control while under the influence and at least one drug count, prosecutors said.

Auburn police were called May 31 after a woman leaving her gated home saw Howard passed out behind the wheel of his car. The gate hit his vehicle, briefly waking him, but Howard promptly passed back out, according to charging papers.

When an officer arrived and ordered Howard to get out of the car, a bag of heroin fell out of the vehicle, according to prosecutors. Howard tried to hide the bag but later admitted to using the drug while driving, court records state.

The child was not hurt.
