The body of a man found inside a Gig Harbor-area house that burned late Monday has been identified as 75-year-old John Kemp of Gig Harbor, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office said Thursday.

Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer confirmed Kemp was the owner of the house in the 8900 block of 75th Avenue Northwest.

The exact cause and manner of his death had not been determined.

A propane system at the house exploded, starting the blaze, fire and Sheriff’s officials said.
