The Washington State Fair invites local amateur brewers and winemakers to share their craft and compete for prizes.

Winning entries in the beer and wine competition will be on display during the 17-day fair, according to a news release.

Competitors must submit an online entry form by Aug. 15. Beverages must be dropped off at the Washington State Fairgrounds on Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Red Gate on 9th Avenue Southwest in Puyallup.

Creations will be judged by aroma and bouquet, appearance, balance and finish, flavor, body, drinkability, and overall impression, according to the release. Judging will take place Aug. 25.

Brewers and winemakers must be 21 years or older and have no prior or current affiliation with a commercial brewery or winery.

Winning categories will include Best in Category and Best in Show, and cash prizes and rosettes will be awarded.

The Washington State Fair runs Sept. 6-22.
