Motorcyclist killed in Spanaway crash identified

A 27-year-old motorcyclist who died Monday after running a red light and hitting a car in Spanaway has been identified as Tristan Newton.

Newton, of Tacoma, was riding a 1993 Honda CBR900 south on state Route 7 about 6:15 p.m. when he failed to stop at the light at 204th Street East, according to the State Patrol.

He struck a 1995 Toyota Camry. That driver, a 50-year-old Spanaway man, was not injured.

Newton was wearing a helmet.
