Kent police are searching for a man who broke into a woman’s East Hill apartment and sexually assaulted her Aug. 6.

The woman told police the man came inside through the unlocked front door and forced her into a bedroom at knifepoint, where he began kissing her. He was scared off by an unknown noise.

Police said no similar attacks have been reported.

“This is a very unusual circumstance” said det. Melanie Frazier. “We have not had a similar situation or reports of any similar incidents.”

The man was white, about 28 with dark hair, light-colored eyes, a thick build and small bump on his nose. He has a Yin-Yang tattoo on his left forearm and was wearing a red bandana.

Police said he may be a transient because of bad body odor reported by the victim.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call the Kent Police Department’s tip line at (253) 856-5808.
