Warrant issued for Tacoma woman who crashed car with 3 kids inside

Staff writerAugust 14, 2013

A warrant has been issued for a 34-year-old suspected drunken driver who crashed her car July 4 in Tacoma with three children in the backseat.

Pierce County prosecutors charged the woman with vehicular assault in connection with the crash at East 50th and A streets. Her 7-year-old nephew was seriously injured in the accident.

The woman told officers she was driving home from a gathering when she hit the traffic circle, which she said she didn’t see. Officers noted she was slurring her speech and the traffic circle has reflectors.

She admitted to drinking for more than four hours before the crash, according to charging papers.

Police arrested the woman on suspicion of DUI and took her to the hospital after she complained of foot pain. Her nephew underwent stomach surgery the next day.
