Staff writerAugust 17, 2013

UPDATE as of 1:30 p.m. Officers determined that no shot was fired, and no one has been arrested, Cool said. The victim did not tell officers what caused his injury, she said.

INITIAL POST: Emergency crews responded about 1 p.m. Saturday to a report of a drive-by shooting in the 700 block of South Fife Street, Tacoma police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

It wasn't immediately clear what had happened.

A man had what initially appeared to be a graze wound from a bullet, she said, but he told officers he thought fireworks were involved.

He declined treatment.

Officers were at the scene investigating, and Cool said they had not yet determined if a drive-by shooting had occurred.

Further information was not immediately available.
