Crews responded about 1 p.m. Sunday to the end of Falling Water Boulevard East off of 181st Avenue East in the Bonney Lake area for a brush fire, East Pierce Fire & Rescue said.

No homes were threatened, but the fire grew to 2-acres before firefighters had it contained, Assistant Chief Russ McCallion said.

After thousands of gallons of water and about 25 firefighters on scene the blaze was well contained late Sunday, but crews planned to return to work on hot spots at the scene Monday, he said.

What caused the fire had not been determined, but McCallion said there appeared to be undergrowth and other logging debris in the area.
