Mentally disabled teen missing from Bonney Lake-area home

Staff writerAugust 18, 2013

Sheriff's deputies are asking the public to help find 17-year-old Maliika Andrus, who they say has the mental capacity of a 9-year-old and appears to have fled a Bonney Lake-area group home early Sunday.

Staff at the home last saw her 6:20 a.m. Sunday at the facility in the 18400 block of South Tapps Drive East, and believe she tampered with the alarm on the window of her room and left at 6:35 a.m, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department said.

The teen is new to the home and is not familiar with the area, deputies said.

Andrus is black, 5 foot 6, 115 pounds, with black braided hair. She was last wearing a black shirt with multi-colored striped pajama pants.

Anyone with information about Andrus is asked to contact law enforcement.
