Stadium Way will open to vehicles and bicycles Wednesday after closing for construction in October 2012, the City of Tacoma said.
The $10 million Stadium Way Arterial Project, funded by federal grants, restored the street.
The road connects Interstate 705, Link Light Rail service and the Stadium neighborhood.
It will open with new pavement, upgraded street lighting, a traffic signal at South Fourth Street, bike lanes and landscaping, among other new utilities.
The city’s goal was to open the road before the start of school, project manager Mark D’Andrea said.
Pedestrians will have to wait for handrails to be installed on the sidewalks of the road, and drivers might experience some delays as final tasks are completed through October, the city email@example.com
