Free gate admission 9 a.m.-noon, opening day only. Fairgoers are asked to bring a nonperishable food donation for the annual food drive, which benefits the Puyallup Food Bank.
Western Rodeo Parade and Cattle Drive, 10 a.m. Meridian Street will be closed from West Main Street to Seventh Avenue from 9:50-10:50 a.m. due to the parade route.
Herrick, country music, 11:30 a.m., 2:30 and 7:30 p.m., Mountain Mist Stage.
Washington State Fair Rodeo, 1, 6:30 p.m., Grandstand.

How to Do the Puyallup
Hours: 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays; 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Fridays (but opens at 9 a.m. opening day);
9 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturdays;
9 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays.
Admission: $12.50 adults, $9 seniors (62 and over) and students (age 6-18); free 5 and younger. Tickets can be purchased online at thefair.com.
Transportation: There will be no fair-only express bus routes offered. Specialized transportation is available for registered shuttle customers, call one to five days in advance to schedule. For regular Pierce Transit routes to Puyallup, call 253-581-8000 or go to piercetransit.org.
Parking: $10 Monday-Friday, $12 Saturday-Sunday.
