The Seattle Seahawks are renewing their ties with Joint Base Lewis-McChord with Tuesday's ceremony to transfer the team's 12th Man Flag from soldiers who have returned from Afghanistan to air crews who constantly fly cargo planes globally.
A number of football players and members of the Sea Gals cheerleaders signed up to mingle with 750 members of the 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team that returned over the summer. Lt. Col. Joe Sowers says they carried the flag to remote outposts where soldiers would video "shout outs" to be played on the screen at CenturyLink Field.
The flag transfers to the 446th Airlift Wing, which has 2,200 members who operate C-17 cargo planes. Lt. Col. Anna Sullivan says they'll fly the 12th Man Flag all over the world.
