Staff writerSeptember 10, 2013

Authorities seized 64 pounds of heroin Monday from a Tacoma home and booked three people into Pierce County Jail as part of the bust, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

Officials served a search warrant on the home as part of an ongoing investigation by the West Sound Narcotics Enforcement Team, which is hosted by the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office and consists of several agencies spanning Pierce, Thurston and Kitsap counties.

The Tacoma Police Department, Washington State Patrol and Drug Enforcement Agency helped with the arrests and seizure.

The drugs are estimated to be worth more than $500,000.

Detectives also confiscated a handgun, scale and drug packaging material, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said.

Further information about where and when the drugs were found and what specific crimes those arrested are suspected of was not immediately available.
