This week: BMW Championship, through Sunday, Conway Farms Golf Club, Lake Forest, Ill.
In the field: Puyallup’s Ryan Moore.
Second-round score: 2-under-par 69.
Position: Moore (6-under 136) is tied for fourth, five strokes behind co-leaders Jim Furyk and Brandt Snedeker (11-under 131).
Recap: Moore didn’t shoot a 59 — Furyk became the sixth player in PGA Tour history and first in the FedEx Cup playoffs to post that magical score — but Moore stayed right in the hunt with a solid round. After back-to-back bogeys from the fairway on Nos. 4 and 5, he settled into his round with four birdies over a seven-hole stretch — the last ones coming at No. 14 (on the back fringe in two shots on the par-5 hole) and No. 15 (wedge approach shot to 5 feet from the cup).
