KOMO Newsradio said Sunday it has become the first media outlet to interview serial killer Gary Ridgway, and that they will air the interviews as part of a series that starts Monday.
Ridgway, known as the Green River killer, is serving life in prison at the Washington State Penitentiary after being convicted of 49 murders.
In six interviews, he discusses the crimes and explains his motives, the station said.
A preview for the series "The Voice of Evil" will run 7:15 a.m. Monday on AM 1000/FM 97.7.
Reports will air at 7:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. throughout the week, the station said.
“I think it’s important that people understand just why we’re giving voice to a guy like this,” said interviewer Charlie Harger, “people deserve answers and the families deserve some kind of closure.”
