No students were on board when two school buses crashed about 4:30 p.m. Monday on the northbound state Route 509 cable bridge in Tacoma, troopers and Fire officials said.

No one was injured, and the bus driver responsible for the crash was cited with second-degree negligent driving, State Patrol trooper Guy Gill said. A pickup was also struck during the incident.

Crews extricated one of the bus drivers, whose legs were pinned by the wreck, Tacoma Fire Battalion Chief Dave McRoberts said.

The left lane of SR 509 was blocked by the crash, the State Patrol said.
