Tacoma police on Thursday arrested two men in connection with a fatal shooting Aug. 31 at a Stadium District parking garage.
Lawrence Howse, 54, died at the Sky Terrace Condominiums, 235 Broadway, in what police said was a random robbery gone wrong. He was killed after two men slipped under the garage door and confronted him about 10 p.m. as he pulled his black BMW inside.
Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said officers arrested one suspect after they served a warrant at his residence. She did not know where the officers took him into custody.
Investigation of people involved in a separate robbery helped police identify the suspects, she said.
They got a bunch of different tips, Cool said. They were attempting to serve warrants at several different places.
Thursday, officers getting a warrant for the arrest of the second suspect saw the man at the Pierce County courthouse downtown and arrested him, Cool said.
It was not immediately clear why the man was there, but Cool said at one point he told investigators he had be trying to turn himself in.
Cool confirmed that the suspects were the same men police earlier said were possible witnesses. Investigators had asked the public to help identify the men based on surveillance photos taken at a nearby convenience store after the homicide.
Pierce County prosecutor Mark Lindquist said he expects to charge the suspects with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery, and possibly others for rendering criminal assistance after the homicide.
