H.R. “Hal” Russell, CEO of Tacoma’s Commencement Bank, will represent the state’s community bankers at an inaugural “Community Banking in the 21st Century” summit in St. Louis on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
Russell was chosen for the position by the State Director of Banks Rick Riccobono, according to a Commencement Bank release on Monday.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity because it will allow me to collaborate with other community bankers around the country," Russell stated. “There is a lot we can gain from sharing our different practices and perspectives. My goal is to bring back information and ideas that will strengthen all of the community banks in our state.”
The conference will host bankers as well as academics, policy makers and bank supervisors nationwide who will focus on community banking. Research related to the sector will be presented along with findings from a series of community banking town halls hosted over the past spring and summer.
