The documentary “Beyond Burkas and Bombers: Anti-Muslim Sentiment in America” - focused on the marriage of Pacific Lutheran University students Bashair Alazadi and Carlos Sandoval, is back on the big screen.

Filmed in 2012 by PLU students, it will be an official selection of the Seattle Social Justice Film Festival this month, and will be shown on Oct. 12 at 4 p.m. in the Pike Place Market Theater.

The central figures in the film are Sandoval, who grew up Catholic in Tacoma, and Alazadi, who was a Muslim living in Everett. Before their 2009 wedding, Sandoval converted to Muslim. Their story, and that of the documentary, were the subject of a May 19 column.
