Woman in critical condition after Sumner hit-and-run

Staff writerOctober 6, 2013

A woman in her 20s was hit by a vehicle just before 11 p.m. Saturday as she was crossing East Valley Highway in the 2700 block of the road, Sumner police spokeswoman Carmen Palmer said.

She was taken to Tacoma General Hospital and was in critical condition Sunday, according to police.

The vehicle left the scene, and investigators have only a vague description of a Ford Explorer-like vehicle heading north, Palmer said.

Palmer said, to her knowledge, there are not cross walks on that stretch of East Valley Highway.

Police ask anyone who sees a vehicle in the area with serious front-end damage to call the Sumner police tip line at 253-299-5678.
