Sumner police seek witnesses to hit-and-run that critically injured woman

Staff writerOctober 7, 2013

Sumner police are seeking witnesses to a hit-and-run accident that critically injured a young woman Saturday.

The woman was crossing the street in the 2700 block of East Valley Highway to get to the Log Cabin Tavern when she was struck by a vehicle that kept going.

Police reviewed surveillance footage of the incident, which happened just before 11 p.m. Saturday, and said the vehicle appears to be a dark-colored small sedan or sports car. They initially believed it to be an SUV. The vehicle will likely have damage to the front end and windshield, police spokeswoman Carmen Palmer said.

The woman, in her early 20s, was still listed in critical condition Monday.

Anyone who saw the accident or has information on the suspect or the vehicle is asked to call Sumner police at 253-299-5678.
