Father's threats prompt lockdown at two Federal Way schools

Staff writerOctober 8, 2013

Two Federal Way schools were briefly locked down this morning after a man threatened to “have a shootout with police” if they tried to stop him from picking up his children, according to the Police Department.

The man was served a protection order this morning and made the threats to the mother of his children after she told him he couldn’t pick up their kids, police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said.

Since he did not specify which of his two children he planned to pick up, a lockdown was implemented at both Sacajawea Middle School and Todd Beamer High School.

The lockdown was lifted about 11:25 a.m. and the investigating into the father’s threats is ongoing, Schrock said.
