Annie Wright’s Margaux Arnston had 11 kills and three blocked shots to help the Gators, ranked No. 1 in Class 1A, to a three-set home volleyball win over the Northwest School. Arnston also led her team with five service aces, while teammates Tori Smith and Lexi LeCleche each had four aces.
Kaetlynn Brown’s 13 kills and Karissa Smith’s 17 digs helped lift first-place Sumner to a three-set volleyball win over SPSL 2A foe Clover Park.
In SPSL 2A volleyball, Malia Fakatoufifita had seven aces and teammate Destiny Vialo had nine kills helped fourth-place Franklin Pierce to a three-set home win over Orting.
Emerald Ridge’s Jenna Mullen had 17 kills and teammate Isabella Zubrod came up with 35 assists to help the Jaguars, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A, to a three-set road win over Bethel in an SPSL South volleyball match.
At Chambers Creek, the Curtis boys cross country team defeated SPSL South foes Puyallup and Spanaway Lake behind Gabe Fejeran’s (16:43) first-place finish. Puyallup’s Johanna Erickson (19:21) finished first for the girls team as the Vikings were able to defeat Curtis and Spanaway Lake.
Orting’s Joe Harvey took home medalist honors by shooting a 2-under-par 34 to lead the Cardinals boys to a victory over the Clover Park Warriors at High Cedars Golf Course. In the girls match, the Cardinals also defeated the Warriors behind medalist Madison LaVergne, who shot a 3-over 39 at High Cedars.Staff report
