Missing mushroom picker found dead in Lewis County

Staff writerOctober 10, 2013

A 68-year-old man who went missing Sept. 28 while picking mushrooms in Lewis County was found dead Wednesday, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office reported.

Relatives of Saykham Tiansevilay of Auburn discovered his body about 3:30 p.m. on a ridge above Williame Creek, deputies said.

It appeared Biansevilay slipped down a 40-foot embankment and might have died of hypothermia, deputies said.

Deputies and search-and-rescue crews had searched an area outside Packwood for four days after Tiansevilay did not return from his mushroom hunt but temporarily suspended their search. Searchers with dogs were scheduled to return to the area this weekend.

The missing man's relatives continued to look for him on their own.
