Early morning fire damages University Place nail salon

Staff writerOctober 12, 2013

A University Place nail salon was badly damaged by fire early Saturday morning, and a woman was treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation.

West Pierce Fire Battalion Chief Hallie McCurdy said firefighters responded at 5:28 a.m. to a fully involved fire on the roof of the Bright & Beautiful salon in the 7000 block of 27th Street West.

Firefighters quickly put the fire out and treated and released a woman in her mid-20s who had been inside the building, McCurdy said.

Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire, McCurdy said.
