2-year-old safe, dad arrested after Oregon shooting, Amber Alert

October 13, 2013

— Authorities have arrested a Gresham man in a shooting that seriously wounded a woman, and they have safely recovered the man's 2-year-old daughter.

Oregon State Police say an Amber Alert for Paige Cavett was canceled Saturday night.

Earlier in the day, police found 27-year-old Jessie Cavett suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound in a Gresham apartment.

A search began for 36-year-old Joshua R. Cavett and police issued an alert for the child, who was with him.

Police say the two adults were involved in a domestic relationship, but did not elaborate. The Oregonian reported Jessie Cavett is the child's mother and the man's estranged wife.

Joshua Cavett was being questioned, and police said he would be charged afterward but did not say with what.

Police also said they didn't know about Jessie Cavett's condition, other than that she was still alive.
