Police investigating death of Tacoma teen shot Friday

Staff writerOctober 13, 2013

A 17-year-old Tacoma boy shot Friday has died, the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office said Sunday.

The office identified him as Jalon Bea.

Tacoma police are investigating the death as a homicide, spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

The boy was shot at South G and South 43rd streets about 4 p.m., Cool said.

He was with a group, when there was one loud shot and the boy fell to the ground, she said.

Some people in the group took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Cool said the boy's father made it to the hospital just before he passed.

When asked if police had identified or arrested any suspects in the shooting, Cool said the department was not releasing any further information Sunday.
