This week: Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas.
In the field: Puyallup’s Ryan Moore, Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley, University Place’s Michael Putnam and Olympia’s Andres Gonzales.
World rankings: Moore is 46th, Stanley is 94th, Putnam is 135th and Gonzales is 472nd.
2013-14 earnings: Gonzales has $75,000 (tied for 14th on the PGA Tour), Stanley has $25,857 (tied for 30th) and Putnam has $10,500 (tied for 59th). This is Moore’s first tournament of the season.
The skinny: Moore is back after finishing tied for 11th at the BMW Championship (9-under 275) in mid-September in the penultimate tournament of the FedEx Cup playoffs. And he now returns to the site of his last victory – the 2012 Shriners, which was the final PGA Tour start he made that season. He finished at 24-under 260 to hold off Brendon de Jonge for his second career win. ... The other three locals played at last week’s Frys.com Open – with Gonzales tying for 16th (10-under 274), Stanley (7-under 277) tying for 33rd and Putnam (1-under 283) tying for 62nd. Three of the locals should find hometown comfort this week. Moore lives full time in Las Vegas – and he and Gonzales were UNLV teammates. Putnam and Moore were roommates in a house in Las Vegas early in their professional careers.
Tee times Thursday: Moore at 7:23 a.m. (PDT) off the 10th tee; Stanley at 11:58 a.m. off the 10th tee; Putnam at 12:46 p.m. off the first tee; Gonzales at 12:55 p.m. off the 10th email@example.com
