Fire causes minimal damage at Tacoma's Boxcar Grill

Staff writerOctober 17, 2013

A fire Wednesday night caused minimal damage to the Boxcar Grill in Tacoma, according to the Fire Department.

Nobody answered the telephone this morning at the restaurant, which is located at 5104 Sixth Ave. No mention of the fire was made on their website or Facebook page.

An automatic fire alarm summoned crews just before 9 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the sprinkler system had already activated.

Nobody was inside at the time of the blaze. Investigators determined the fire was caused by electrical wiring that overheated and caught nearby paper on fire, fire spokesman Joe Meinecke said.

Damages were estimated at $3,200.
