Staff writerOctober 18, 2013

An 85-year-old man with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia was reported missing from his Tacoma home this morning after his daughter realized he and her car were gone, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

John Kerr was last seen just before midnight when his daughter went to bed. When she awoke at 7 a.m., Kerr and her vehicle were gone from their house on 86th Street Court East.

Kerr has not driven a car in three years and probably has less than $20 on him. He left his hearing aid and eyeglasses at the house, detectives said.

He does not have a cellphone or credit cards.

The daughter’s car is a dark purple 2007 Hyundai Elantra with Washington state license plate 678-ZOU and tinted windows. Kerr is 5-feet-11 and 170 pounds, with a shaved head, hazel eyes and a gray mustache.
