This week: Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas.
In the field: Puyallup’s Ryan Moore, Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley, University Place’s Michael Putnam and Olympia’s Andres Gonzales.
Moore’s third-round score: 2-under-par 69.
Position: Moore (12-under 201) is tied for fifth place, seven strokes behind leader Webb Simpson (19-under 194). Stanley and Gonzales shot 2-under 140 for two rounds and missed the cut Friday, as did Putnam (even-par 142).
Recap: Repeating as champion at a PGA Tour event for the third time in his career might be out of reach, but Moore still is playing really good golf this week. He made three birdies to bring his three-day total to 15, and he has just three bogeys for the week. He nearly holed out a wedge approach shot at No. 2 for eagle (made a tap-in for birdie), but he bogeyed No. 8 when his tee shot landed in the right fringe and he missed an 8-foot putt for par. His back-nine birdies came at Nos. 13 and 17, where he made 10-foot putts on both holes.
