This week: Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas.
In the field: Puyallup’s Ryan Moore, Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley, University Place’s Michael Putnam and Olympia’s Andres Gonzales.
Moore’s fourth-round score: 3-under-par 68.
Position: Moore (15-under 269) tied for ninth, nine strokes behind winner Webb Simpson (24-under 260). Stanley and Gonzales (2-under 140), and Putnam (even-par 142) missed the cut Friday.
Recap: It wasn’t the record-setting showing of last season when Moore won his college town tournament with a four-round total of 24-under 260, but he performed admirably in defense of his title. He was 2 under at the turn, but had his issues at the 11th hole where his third shot from the back greenside bunker rolled off the front of the green – and ended up making double bogey on the par-4. But he gave his family and friends a thrill when he chipped in from right of the par-5 green (45 feet) at No. 16 for eagle. Moore earned $162,000.
Next for Moore: CIMB Classic starting Thursday at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.email@example.com
