Advocate Steve Ferreira will speak on Disability Awareness Day Tuesday

Posted by Larry LaRue on October 21, 2013

Steve Ferreira, a 24-old-year old in training for the 2016 Paralympics, will speak Tuesday at Bates Technical College as part of the annual Disability Awareness Day.

The event will be held on the college's south campus auditorium - 2201 S. 78th Street - and run from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Ferreira was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when three  months old, but began competing in sports from his wheelchair at age 5. He's the founder of Beyond Disabilities, a motivational speaking group that hopes to increase awareness of disability-related issues.

A light lunch may be purchased for $1 while food lasts.
