Teen critically injured in hunting accident near Greenwater

Staff writerOctober 21, 2013

Rescuers said a teenager was critically injured Friday when a group hunting about 8 miles east of Greenwater tried to pull an Elk up a hill with a rope and truck, and the line snapped and hit him.

Further information about the boy and his condition was not available Monday, said Greenwater fire (Pierce County Fire District 26) chief Paul Sowers.

KING-TV reported that the boy is 17.

Sowers said crews responded about 3 p.m. Friday, and that the boy was flown to a hospital by the King County Sheriff's helicopter with "pretty critical injuries, possibly life-threatening."

An Enumclaw Fire medic unit, which Sowers said also responded and tended to the boy, was not immediately reachable.
