Family seeks funds for slain Tacoma teenager's funeral

Staff writerOctober 24, 2013

The family of a Tacoma teenager fatally shot earlier this month is accepting donations via a Chase Bank account to help cover the costs of the funeral held for him.

Jalon Bea, 17, died Oct. 11 after he was shot at South 43rd and G streets.

Pierce County prosecutors say a friend jokingly pointed a gun at Bea, but didn’t realize a round was in the cylinder and pulled the trigger.

Tanielu Lotovaivai, 19, has pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree manslaughter.
