THURSday’s highlights

Second-ranked Emerald Ridge and Curtis appear to be on a collision course for the SPSL South volleyball title. The Jaguars made quick work of Graham-Kapowsin, 25-15, 25-20, 25-23, in Puyallup to remain unbeaten in league play. Curtis had to go four sets – 15-25, 25-13, 25-21, 25-13 – to upend host Spanaway Lake. The Vikings host Emerald Ridge on Tuesday in University Place in the regular-season finale.

Defending Class 4A girls volleyball champion Bellarmine Prep continued its roll through the Narrows 4A, sweeping South Kitsap, 25-5, 25-11, 25-9, in Tacoma. Courtney Schwan led the top-ranked Lions with 11 kills. They have won 24 league matches in a row, dating back to the 2011 season.

Mia Fornelius scored the only goal in the first overtime, and visiting Enumclaw kept its stranglehold on third place in the SPSL 3A girls soccer standings with a 1-0 victory over Peninsula in Purdy. Fornelius’ goal game in the 85th minute, and goalkeeper Katie Craft recorded the shutout.

Reigning Nisqually 1A girls soccer offensive player of the year Machaela Graddy tallied two goals for Eatonville – the 97th and 98th of her career – and the host Cruisers remained undefeated with a 4-1 victory over Charles Wright Academy.
