Gig Harbor woman killed in car crash

Staff writerOctober 25, 2013

A 24-year-old woman died Thursday after losing control of her SUV and crashing into a tree in Lakebay, authorities said.

Key Peninsula firefighters were called to the 5900 block of Key Peninsula Highway just after 7 p.m. and found the driver dead behind the wheel. She was wearing a seat belt, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The woman has been identified as Jennifer Till of Gig Harbor.

He said Till was driving a 1998 Toyota 4runner north on Key Peninsula Highway when she lost control and swerved off the road, striking a tree.

Her passenger, a 23-year-old Everett woman, was thrown from the car into nearby brush. She was listed in critical condition Friday.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused Till to lose control but are considering that fog might have contributed to the accident.
