A young man who allegedly forced his way into a Steilacoom home at gunpoint over the weekend has been arrested and booked into the Pierce County Jail for investigation of attempted murder, authorities said.
The incident began after 10 p.m. Sunday at an apartment complex in the 3000 block of Steilacoom Boulevard, Steilacoom Police Chief Ron Schaub said.
A young man showed up at an apartment in the complex and demanded that a resident of the unit accompany him somewhere, Schaub said. When the resident declined, the visitor armed himself with a shotgun he’d brought along and used it “as a battering ram” to force his way into the apartment, the chief said.
No shots were fired, but “there were some threats made,” Schaub said.
People inside the apartment eventually subdued and disarmed the visitor, who was arrested by arriving police officers.
The visitor and the resident of the apartment are acquaintances, Schaub firstname.lastname@example.org
