A Puyallup man who allegedly solicited child pornography through a Craigslist advertisement has been charged with felony possession of such and jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail, Pierce County prosecutors said Thursday.
The 24-year-old man came to the attention of the Tacoma Police Department after an anonymous tipster alerted them to the Craigslist ad, court documents show.
A detective posing as a child-porn enthusiast contacted the man and began a correspondence that resulted in the defendant sending the detective a video that showed a man molesting a male toddler, the records show.
The defendant asked if the detective had any videos to share, adding “the younger the better,” prosecutors said.
Police were able to determine the man’s name, raided his house and interviewed him. He allegedly told detectives he knew he was taking a risk by posting the Craigslist ad but that he “really wanted to find it,” records show.
A not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf Thursday in Superior Court. He was ordered jailed in lieu of $100,000 pending trial.
