Kent police take boy, 14, into custody after alleged assault of 8-year-old girl

Staff writerNovember 7, 2013

Kent police Thursday were investigating a reported sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl, and had taken a 14-year-old suspect into custody who they said was a friend of a family member.

The girl was taken to the hospital, and while her condition was not known, Detective Melanie Frazier said her injuries appeared not to be life-threatening.

The girl walked into the lobby of the Red Lion Hotel about 4:30 p.m. in at 25100 74th Ave. S. for help.

Police arrived, spoke with her, and quickly found the 14-year-old boy suspected, Frazier said.

The alleged assault happened in the woods behind the hotel, Frazier said.

Detectives were still investigating.
