A 43-year-old Tacoma man killed Monday when his car struck a concrete curb and vaulted over the railing and onto Interstate 705 has been identified as Christopher Hatch.

Hatch was in a 2008 Audi when he took the exit to South 21st Street from southbound I-705, hit the curb at the top of the ramp and vaulted over the overpass barrier back onto I-705, according to the State Patrol.

The accident happened about 7 p.m.

Trooper Guy Gill said excessive speed was a factor. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
