Tickets are on sale for the South Sound stops of the 2013 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour. The event is coming to Tacoma on Dec. 2-3 and to Olympia on Dec. 7-8.
The nine-day Banff Mountain Film Festival, which ended Nov. 3 in Banff, Alberta, is one of the most prestigious mountain festivals in the world. For more than 35 years, the festival has showcased a selection of some of the best adventure, exploration and mountain-culture films from around the world.
Immediately after the end of the festival, a selection of the top films goes on a tour around the world. The tour reaches more than 330,000 audience members through more than 735 screenings in 400 locations in 40 countries, according to a festival news release.
There will be different films featured each night to offer a broad variety of short-, medium-, and feature-length films (45-70 minutes long) that go deep into the story of adventure.
The showings are sponsored by The Tacoma Mountaineers, University of Puget Sound Outdoor Program and Edgeworks Climbing Gym.
Where: Rialto Theater, 310 S. Ninth St., Tacoma. Shows start at 7 p.m.
Single-night tickets: $18 general admission; $14 for Mountaineers, University of Puget Sound and Edgeworks Community members. They are available online at broadwaycenter.org.

The films will take viewers on adventures to exotic locations and distant cultures. Different films shown each night.
This stop on the tour is hosted by The Olympia Mountaineers, the Olympia Film Society and Alpine Experience.
