No charges yet for 2 arrested in car-window smashing spree in Puyallup

Two people arrested for smashing out the windows on 79 vehicles in Puyallup were released from jail after posting bail, records show.

The 22-year-old woman and 24-year-old man have not yet been charged with a crime. Pierce County prosecutors said they are waiting for police to finish investigating the case before deciding what, if any, charges to file.

A third suspect is being sought in the case but is not in custody, Puyallup police Capt. Dave McDonald said.

Detectives have identified the man but have not been able to locate him.

The trio is accused of using a baseball bat or pipe to bust out windows and side mirrors on 79 vehicles in the city during a three-day vandalism spree.

Police said surveillance footage caught them leaning out of a moving car and smashing out windows Nov. 7-9.

A tip led detectives to the suspects, who allegedly admitted to their involvement.
